The Hummingbird’s Tour was written by Margaret Dulaney in the mid-nineties, and received its first professional reading in New York City in 1995 with Actors Francis Sternhagen and Anne Pitoniak. Soon after, Margaret moved to Bucks County Pennsylvania where she took up nonfiction writing.

In the spring of 2013, the play was dusted off and mounted as a developmental Lab production in a private barn in Bucks County Pennsylvania for three evenings, to an audience of 400. The response was so positive that the same production was presented for a week at the Bucks County Playhouse. The momentum from the two Bucks County showings have inspired a third mounting of the production in New York City in the fall of 2015 Off Broadway at the Theatre at St. Clement’s.
